The decor trends that will be back to school 2020
Less than a week before the start of the school year! And who says back to school, says new season and new trends. Colors, materials, and decorative style, we take stock of the decorative trends that will mark the fall-winter 2020-2021 season.
1. Colors inspired by nature
If Classic Blue was the color of the year (according to Pantone), it will be less present for the start of the school year. In fact, winter 2020-2021 will be marked by colors inspired by nature. Green and all its shades will be omnipresent. To enter the fall, we will mainly find a khaki green, sage green, fir green, and other dark greens. At the same time, other natural colors will take pride of place in our interiors. This is the case with vegetable colors such as terracotta, ecru, ocher or even linen gray.
In terms of materials, caning will always be talked about as much this winter. And for good reason, this braiding of natural fiber is found everywhere! It is available both on furniture (chair, table, console, sideboard, etc.) as well as on decorative objects (suspension, lighting, etc.). If it recalls the retro style, caning adapts equally well to country, Scandinavian, or even bohemian styles!
3. Curly wool
Another key material for the fall-winter 2020-2021 season: curly wool! While she began to talk about her at the beginning of the year, she is back on the front lines of the decoration scene. It must be said, this material is the must-have of cozy and warm interiors. Soft to the touch, looped wool is perfect for making a cocooning space. Beyond plaids, blankets, and cushions, it can also invest seats or a carpet! Anyway, we like it in immaculate white for the touch of elegance!
4. Gold metal
To finish with the fashionable decorative materials, we do not forget the golden metal! An elegant and refined material, gold metal is a nice nod to the Art Deco style. It sublimates the base of our side tables, dresses up with the allure of chairs and other seats, or allows to highlight a pendant light. What is certain is that we always notice it!
For several months now, handicrafts have been at the heart of decoration trends. Reflecting the need for a return to basics and the search for authenticity, craftsmanship, and hand-made have a bright future ahead of them. Among the artisanal creations that can be found everywhere, we can cite the elements of basketry (baskets, trays, and other weavings and weaves in vegetable fibers), pottery (vase, decoration, and crockery), ceramics (especially on the crockery)…
6. The slow decor
With the Covid-19 crisis, many of us have seen our daily habits change. But many have also questioned themselves, making the choice today to review their way of consuming. Halfway between the minimalism trend and the huge art of living, the slow decor perfectly reflects this state of mind! The idea is simple: separate yourself from the superficial, keep only the essential while continuing to have fun with simple and ethical things! In decoration, remember one thing: you must feel good at home!
